Opportunities - Do we realise them?

At times I do get disturb and start cursing my enviornment and surrounding for not giving me enough opportunities and resources to rock the world. I don’t know about others but this man I met few years ago is quite gem of a person. In hindi we say “miti se bhi sona nikal le”, means he is the kind of person who can dig gold even from sand. Such a person he is full of life, always optimistic and can turn any situation in his favour. Yes he is one of the richest people in the city and competes with his father another richest person in the same city. I don’t mean that they have rivalry. They are best buddies to each other. So, the other day I was a bit depressed by the progress of my work and complaining about the resources I didn’t have and could have done better if I had them. I was discussing it with Parth, (the person I have been talking about) during a chat session on facebook. Parth asked me, “Mohit can you please tell me what you are lacking with to get to those resources?” Obviously I said money and opportunites. He said, “Well if that is the case there is plenty of money and opportunities all around, may be you are not able to observe it.” I was a bit confused. Parth said, “Let me share a story with you.”

Around 50 years back there lived a poor boy in a lonely place with his family. This place was hardly 20 KMs away from the town but no one travelled that road much. The only thing good for this family was that their ancestors have left them this huge land with two ponds with a warning that never get depart with this land or we are watching. Tradition followed and now they were having this land which was serving them food and shelter. This boy Jagdish use to spend his time at one of the pond. He used to sit there kill his time and curse that he having such a big land can be billionaire but cannot sell it. He will sit there and throw crystal like stones in pond. It was his daily routine. He was not allowed to go there in night hours or he could have spent 24 hours there throwing stones and cursing his ancestors.

One night he was not getting sleep and went towards the pond. On his way he saw a glow coming out of pond and shining water in moon light. It was as if he was looking at a Shrine. Feeling scared he ran away. He repeated his night visits for some days having the feeling that his ancestors might visit the place during night as it was said that they will be watching. One night taking courage he went near the pond thinking that as they are his ancestors so they will not harm him. He was amazed to see the beauty of shining water and there were no traces of threat. He thought for a moment and went back to sleep. For the first time after he became young he was sleeping with a satisfied smile on his face.

Next morning he went to a furniture shop and looked for few table and chairs. He went to the shopkeeper and asked, “How about you give me these sets of furniture for free.” Shopkeeper was confused and asked why. So, Jagdish replied if you give to me for free I will offer you 20% share in my restaurant. Shopkeeper agreed but said he will deliver it on the inaugural day. The boy fixed the number and left. It was a deal. Now he needed a team which can cook and serve. So, he went to one of the best caterer in the town. He met the owner and said, “How about partnering in a restaurant which is at one best located, within the city yet away from local hustles, which serves the best candle light dinner?” The caterer immediately understood the boys point and asked when we are starting the deal. His percentage was also 20%. From here he straight away went to a nursery and asked the owner, “Do you supply plants for your own restaurant?” “I don’t own a restaurant”, replied the owner. The boy offered him 20% share for plants and some initial finance required.

He invited all the three partners and explained them his proposal. All the three partners signed the deal and Jagdish gave his thumb impression. Now the deal was furniture and maintenance by furniture guy, food and beverages by catering guy, plantation and lightening by nursery guy, idea and land of Jagdish. All four gets 20% each and 20% for restaurant emergency fund. On the inaugural day there were about 100 invitees to attend. They were amazed to see this beautiful spot near the city and away from hustle and soon the word spread out in the town and they started getting the revenue. After some time they started second restaurant on a different theme. They used the emergency fund which was never touched since they have started.

Jagdish got married and soon was blessed with a boy. Jagdish sent his boy to school, made him educated. His son one day learnt about diamonds and its glory. He was determined this day and went back home straight away went to pond dived in and saw the stones thrown by his father. He enquired about them with his father. Then he went to a jewellery shop to get these stones checked and indeed they were diamonds. With few digs the boy was amazed to find out that he lived over diamond mine. He asked the owner, “Do you wish to be a diamond merchant and move ahead from this shop to a jewellery hub?” The boy and shopkeeper went into partnership. They got the trading license and started a medium diamond showroom with diamonds of all shapes and sizes. Soon they started trading outside the city and then all over the state. Today they are trading diamonds all over the world.

That day I understood that to become successful you don’t need money; you need commitment, dedication and a will to change. And I have all these resources. I repeat these lines to me daily in the morning. Throughout the day I look for opportunities, opportunities to learn, opportunities to implement my learning, opportunities to take my learning to next level, opportunities to bring smile to others, opportunities to forgive others, opportunities to bring meaning to my existence. And many more opportunities. And what I find every day is that world is full of such opportunities and it has been a high time to realise them.

P.S. Think of yourself where you want to see yourself in 2 years from now. You can close your eyes now or you can choose to keep your eyes open. See yourself enjoying that moment, hear what you hear, concentrate on your feelings and intesify them. Think of the resources you need to reach there and pinch yourself now.

P.P.S. Now keeping your resources in mind think of available options and choose one easiest option and implement it now.

Are you Knocking your own Success

The day I started to understand things consciously I have been listening to ‘There is no key to success’. I thought let’s explore this more and find out key to success. I kept on exploring the Success Mantra, and still travelling on the same path and have found some key ingredients that Success needs. This article talks about one of these keys which can open the locked door of success for you. It is not a hardcore rule or guidelines and you can choose to use this key because you want the open the door to success.

While you are reading these lines think of dress you wore yesterday. Now recall the color of the dress. Where do you see the picture, point it with your hand. That’s right. You know what it is the meaning of being success to you, don’t you? Remember the time when you were really appreciated for something you did really good. Yeah, go back a little and you can see yourself performing the act of success. Bring this picture to overlap with earlier picture of your dress, if it is not already overlapped. Can you bring this picture a little closer to you and make it a life size. Make it a real big life size image. You can do it, that’s right. Step into this person performing the act of success now and you can choose to close your eyes now or in next few seconds and live the same moment of performing the act of success. Yes that’s right you have been good in doing this act and you have seen yourself being successful in the past and you have relived the same moments again just now also you can transform this into habit of success by repeating it again.

Repeat the same act again or you can choose to relive another moment of success. This time do notice the sensations inside your body. Intensify these sensations. Observe the flow of emotions, yes your feelings are always floating inside your body. Increase the current so that these feelings can flow faster. Make an easy entry and exit and also no entry for other feelings for now. Relive this act of success again now and you can see what you are doing and what sounds you hear and you can feel your feelings floating and telling you your path to follow where you can find your key to success and unlock all your future doors.

Stop for a moment and think of a situation where you want to be successful. Go along this journey with the changed person now you are. See what you see, hear what you hear and relive the same feelings you hae lived few moments back. Enjoy your days with these feelings.

Repeat this process daily after you wake up in the morning. Repeat it for a week and then repeat it for a month. Keep observing your feelings and keep intensifying them and keep living your moments of success and you will find that in a month you are successful at every thing you do. You will also notice that as your intuition for success will increase at an exponential rate.

If Every Employee is a Businessman

After giving too much thought and asking many persons about the title line, I finally decided to share my opinions. Before you go any further I would request you to comment your thoughts on “IF Every Employee is a Businessman”. Let us see how many employees and Businessman share the same opinion. Go ahead post your comments and come back to read it further.

It started with my talks to owner of an Automation Service provider company (they do mostly international projects). They are a small team of around 10-15 persons and very successful in their domain. Meeting Mr Khanna (name changed), man in his early 50s was a great opportunity for me. So dynamic, enthusiastic like a young man and always carrying a smile on his face. I asked him the same lines and he was like, “how you know that we practise it”. He said to me,”Mohit my company is working for the growth of its drivers. I don’t have employees, every individual in my company is working for his growth and if they help others to grow, they get double growth.” So it was like you help your colleague in some work and your manager see you doing this and he gives you double points. Mr Khanna says if an employee in a company grows it means that company is doing well even during recession. When I checked the moral of the people working there, every one said they are working for others to grow. I was impressed.

I had served three companies is last 3 and half years. During my services I met many dynamic personalities who never sold themselves. They had all the potentials but they worked to earn money only and they were selling their thoughts to all their colleagues. They never think to bring meaning to their company. They even tried to sell their thought to me and I told myself,”if you cannot change your environment then change your environment” and I did the same always.  You should work to bring meaning to what you do. Do you?

Every employee who needs to grow has to do business. He/she has to sell his/her knowledge in order to get the return. Once you sold your knowledge and get the return, you have to upgrade your knowledge to increase your return.

When I ask the same question to my ex-colleagues and present ones too, most of them were like, companies will cease to exist. The list starts from managers to ground level staff. I have heard Guy Kawasaki saying that Steve Jobs always hire persons who have more potentials than he had. In simple words ‘A players hire A+ players.’ That’s one of the reasons for the growth APPLE. Only one of my friends said without giving a thought that in a company where every employee is a businessman the company will never look back.
